When I was searching for ideas for eco art I found numerous artists who created gorgeous life size horses from drift wood. I love the beach and the raw materials of the beach--bleached and rough wood, shells, and sand so I found two of my favorite artists using the driftwood to create very different horses...

Heather Jansch creates almost peaceful horses that seem to relax into their natural background.

James Doran-Webb creates animals from driftwood but his horses are built differently and their bodies are busier and their poses energetic, racing. Both artists create vibrant sculptures from a seemingly lifeless material. The effects are stunning.
